42 firecracker-related injuries reported in Manila

01/01/2011 - MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2) At least 42 people, including 2 children, were reported to have been hurt by firecrackers and were now confined at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila.

Marian Gutierrez, 6, and Gerlin Nuguid, 9 were burned by sparklers.

Two others were identified as Martin Sanducal,12, hurt by a piccolo, a kind of firecracker, and Romeo Vasquez, 52, a namesake of an actor, whose hand was injured when a pla pla exploded prematurely. (Inquirer.net)
