10/11/2010 - MANILA, Philippines – Boxer-congressman Manny Pacquiao remained in Manila to attend to various engagements on Monday, after participating in Sunday's "10.10.10 A Run for the Pasig River."
He kicked off his busy schedule with a training exercise at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Pacquiao was joined by British world champion Amir Khan and American conditioning coach Alex Ariza. Their training session lasted for more than 1 hour.
The champion boxers went around the Rizal Memorial Track Oval before the interval training and sprint.
The 7-division world champion, who will face Mexican Antonio Margarito on November 13, also had footwork drills.
Ariza said he is happy with Pacquiao’s condition. “It’s going to get harder,” he said of Pacquiao’s training.
World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Khan added that he was impressed with the Filipino boxing superstar.
“Manny is so smart, fast,” the Briton remarked. He added that Pacquiao will defeat Margarito in Round 8 or 9.
Khan is in the country to spar with Pacquiao and also train under Ariza and coach Freddie Roach. He is preparing for his title defense against Argentina’s Marcos Maidana on December 11.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao assured that his training is right on schedule even if he left his camp in Baguio City.
The Sarangani province congressman said he had to go the House of Representatives.
“Mayroon lang ako dapat mapirmahan (I just have to sign something),” he stated.
Pacquiao will return to the City of Pines Monday night. His promoter, Top Rank, Inc. CEO Bob Arum, is expected to visit the Philippines on Sunday
