Manila ready for Aquino inaugural, says Lim

06/22/2010 - MANILA, Philippines—Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim on Tuesday joined the members of the group coordinating the preparations for the inauguration of President-elect Noynoy Aquino III in conducting an ocular inspection of the Quirino Grandstand.

Lim said it’s all systems go for the Aquino inauguration as far as the city government of Manila is concerned.

He announced that all preparations for the June 30 event that fall under the responsibility and jurisdiction of the city government have been threshed out and just awaiting implementation.

Among others, Lim said that eight ambulances will be put on standby in strategic areas each complete with doctors, nurses and utility personnel.

In terms of security, Lim said at least 2,000 policemen will be deployed to provide security and maintain the smooth flow of traffic in Rizal Park and nearby areas. (Inquirer)
